After his psychoanalytical studies and during his education in ENT, Dr Hans Greuel developed a psychosomatic therapy against tinnitus (sudden deafness, Menière's desease). After more than 20,000 successful treatments and a scientific research report for the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Issues, it became apparent that the highly effective Biomental Therapy was not feasible for more than 80% of patients due to the great deal of time needed. In order to provide these patients help against the painful sounds in the ear, Dr Greuel searched for further effective therapy methods.

In 2004 Dr Greuel found out about an American study of the California Ear Institute, which successfully treats patients with Botulinumtoxin A. Immediately Dr Greuel started to apply this method to his German patients who could not be won over for Biomental Therapy. Independent of that, Dr Greuel had already made a lot of experience with Botulinum toxin A in his capacity as a Plastic Surgeon. He had experienced several patients who had become trouble-free after a wrinkle correction – they had gotten rid of their migraine and tinnitus!

Düsseldorf, Februar 2007: In the meantime Dr Greuel has treated 115 patients with Botox and reached a success rate of 71%. Düsseldorf, Juni 2007: In the meantime Dr Greuel has treated 165 patients with Botox and reached a success rate of 73%. Düsseldorf, September 2007: In the meantime Dr Greuel has treated 197 patients with Botox and reached a success rate of 70,2%. Düsseldorf, April 2008: In the meantime Dr Greuel has treated 267 patients with Botox and reached a success rate of 69,8%. Düsseldorf, April 2009: In the meantime Dr Greuel has treated 381 patients with Botox and reached a success rate of 68,1%.

Treatment should be renewed after 3-6 months. Among the successfully treated patients there are currently 7% that have stayed trouble-free until today.

During a business trip to the USA in 2006 and 2008 Dr Greuel was able to compare the amount and the concentration of the toxin as well as the points of injection with those of his American colleagues (click here for article 20.09.2004). The differing amounts, concentrations and injection techniques explain the differing results. Further research and the search for more appropriate injection points are being carried out. However, a success rate of 70% is very satisfying.

The fee is due on the day of treatment, it amounts to 386.20 Euro, which largely covers the cost for material. In those few cases of little effect it is possible to repeat the treatment after 2-4 weeks.
